BBC conservative prospective leaders debate

I do like this comment - doesn't it make you proud out of a population of 60 million we can whittle it down to these 5 talents

Trump

So Trump is here.  Trying hard to recognise that we are honouring the position and not the person, but it is hard!

Bath

Just had a few days away in Bath.  Had forgotten what an attractive city it is with lots to and see, plus some great restaurants.  In particular had a great dinner at Dan Moon at The Gainsborough - fantastic lamb! And a great Airbnb - central and stylish.

“That claim”

Not sure I understand the position seemingly being advanced that it is ok to tell untruths as part of a political campaign?  Seems to me we have the right to expect more of our politicians.

Local elections

So what I don't understand is why if you want Brexit delivered, you would vote LibDem, or any other party opposed to Brexit?  Which is what appears to have happened.  Is it not more likely that there is an increasing view to Remain?  But I would not want the job of resolving the mess we are in.

Torn between

Ok - I accept I am a confirmed "remainer" but I fear for what will happen after the votes this week!  Is there a way out of this mess?

Brexit again

Not sure I agree with Donald Tusk's words but I take the point that there is seemingly no plan that commands support, nor was there ever one.
I also agree with the comment that "the UK voted for Brexit but keeps looking to Brussels to come up with ways to make its exit workable and painless.".  If we want to leave we cannot expect the EU to change their policies etc., and indeed why should they?

Brexit Plan B.......

.....seems to be continue with Plan A.  As a country we are rapidly becoming a laughing stock.  How on earth will this end?

Apologies

Brexit

I agree with TM that the nation needs to come together but surely it needs more than just saying it?

Brexit

David Cameron says he does not regret calling the referendum.  Really?

Geoffrey Cox

Impressive performance from the AG yesterday.  Raised a number of issues that I had not thought through.

Brexit

So there seems to be agreement with Europe but not in Parliament and possibly more widely.  Where we go from here is worrying to say the least.

Andrew Rawnsley

"The problem with Brexit is not Theresa May. The problem with Brexit is Brexit."
Good article in todays Observer

Brexit - is there anything else?

The more I hear the more I don’t know whether to be worried or reassured!

Budget

Tend to agree with Robert Peston in that no need to bring forward tax allowance changes unless planning for (or think it is likely there will be) an early election.

Sir Philip Green

Very confused as to whether it is right to use Parliamentary privilege to name someone when there is a Court injunction in place. Might at least have waited until the Courts had definitely ruled.

Brexit

So, in the light of what was said today, what is a meaningful vote?  Regardless of your position on Brexit a "promise" of a meaningful vote needs to be respected.
